Dr Cécile Valantin
Clinical psychologist
Psychotherapy in English & French
Wherever You Are Based
Services
I offer psychotherapy to adults both in French and English.
My clinical work can help with difficulties related to stress, burnout, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, sleep disturbances, personality disorders, adult ADHD, hypersensitivity, trauma and complex trauma, or simply a wish to understand oneself better. Over the last 20 years, I have also acquired an extensive experience of multicultural and expat-related issues that has enriched my clinical work.
Working together means that I support and guide you toward the changes and decisions that you are defining and aiming for.
From the very first contact, confidentiality and privacy are guaranteed would you decide to pursue a psychotherapy or not.
Each therapy is tailored to each person’s needs and wants, and we define together the appointments’ frequency.
Approach
I work in a collaborative way and provide a non-judgmental, safe and caring environment to support you through a wide range of questions or issues:
-
Life transitions on personal or professional levels such as marriage, parenthood, relocation, expatriation, promotion at work, empty nest, retirement, etc.
-
Life crisis due to work stress, personal difficulties, or family problems.
-
Women’s mental health, including personal development, professional challenges, perinatal worries or difficulties, and menopause challenges.
-
Complex trauma and difficulties pertaining to childhood traumas.
-
Grief.
My clinical approach has a solid grounding in psychodynamic and person-centred theories. It also integrates interventions from a variety of evidence-based psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Existentiel psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and mindfulness, as well as the rapidly growing knowledge from neuropsychology research.
Overall, psychotherapy helps getting a better and deeper understanding of oneself and, as such, it helps dealing with life difficulties beyond the reduction and/or alleviation of initial presenting symptoms. Along the way, we also identify together tools and strategies to manage daily life and challenges and we regularly review our work together.
